Role Overview

The Maintenance Supervisor – Millwright is a senior technical role responsible for overseeing maintenance, repairs, and related activities for machinery, equipment, and facilities as directed by the owner. This position ensures industrial systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable regulatory standards while providing leadership to a team of skilled maintenance technicians. The role is critical to maintaining reliable, functional, and safe facilities and equipment through routine inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, emergency response, accurate record-keeping, and coordination with specialized technicians and contractors. Success in this position requires strong technical expertise, effective leadership, sound judgment, organizational skills, and the physical ability to perform and supervise maintenance work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance Operations Leadership: Plan, coordinate, and oversee maintenance activities, repairs, and preventive maintenance schedules in alignment with owner direction and operational priorities.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and support maintenance technicians while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Inspections and Compliance: Conduct routine inspections of facilities, machinery, equipment, and building systems to identify issues, address safety concerns, ensure regulatory compliance, and recommend improvements to the owner.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with internal departments, specialized technicians, and contractors to schedule downtime, coordinate resources, and minimize operational disruptions.
  • Documentation and Records: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, service requests, and completed work.
  • Troubleshooting and Repairs: Apply hands-on technical expertise to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues, support routine repairs, and help prevent equipment failures.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to urgent maintenance needs, including equipment breakdowns or facility issues, to reduce downtime and maintain safe operations.
  • Work Area Organization: Keep tools, equipment, supplies, storage areas, and workspaces clean, organized, and ready for use.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance management, millwright work, or a related industrial maintenance role.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of maintenance practices, equipment repair, troubleshooting, and applicable safety regulations.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, support, and develop maintenance teams in an industrial or facilities environment.
  • Problem-Solving: Hands-on ability to diagnose mechanical issues, resolve problems efficiently, and support safe, reliable operations.
  • Self-motivated and self-starting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • 18+ years of age — no exceptions.
  • Driver's license or transportation to/from work.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with industrial machinery installation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools, measuring instruments, and alignment equipment.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position may require work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including high-noise industrial areas such as boiler rooms, production facilities, or maintenance shops. The role requires physical stamina and may involve lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, standing for extended periods, and moving equipment. Evening, weekend, or emergency availability may be required to support urgent maintenance needs. This position typically reports to the Facility Manager or owner.
